Ambroxol acis drops are used to treat acute and chronic diseases of the bronchi and lungs with viscous mucus. They work by thinning the bronchial mucus, facilitating expectoration and providing effective symptom relief. The drops are taken in liquid such as water, tea or juice and include a dosage cup for age-appropriate dosing. They can be used by adults and children from 2 years of age. The active ingredient ambroxol hydrochloride stimulates the production of thin bronchial mucus and promotes the movement of the cilia of the airway epithelium, which leads to increased mucus clearance. Side effects may include gastrointestinal complaints, hypersensitivity reactions of the skin and mucous membranes, and swelling of the face. Ambroxol acis drops also contain excipients such as methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and sodium metabisulphite. They should not be used if you are allergic to ambroxol hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients. The recommended dosage varies according to age, with a maximum of three to four times a day. The medicine should not be used for more than 4-5 days without medical advice. It should be protected from light and stored at room temperature.
