Lederlind Oral Gel, 100,000 I.U./g is an antimycotic for the treatment of fungal infections in the oral cavity, such as thrush. The gel contains the active ingredient nystatin and is effective against yeast fungi such as Candida albicans. It is applied to the entire oral cavity after meals and can also be applied to dentures and braces. The recommended dose varies according to age: newborns and infants should receive 0.5-1 g of gel 4 times a day, while children 2 years and older and adults should use 1 g of gel 4 times a day. Treatment should be continued for at least 2 days beyond the resolution of symptoms and should not exceed 28 days. Possible side effects include gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may use the gel after weighing the benefits against the risks. In case of overdose, the medicinal product should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. The gel is stored at room temperature and can be used for 6 months after opening. The package leaflet should be read and a doctor or pharmacist consulted before use. There are no reports of side effects occurring frequently. The gel also contains no sugars. It should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients. Parabens may cause hypersensitivity reactions. The gel is offered by ABANTA PHARMA and is available in household quantities.
