Information for use of the article Folic acid Hevert forte ampoules: - Important information: Folic acid forte Hevert, solution for injection containing the active substance folic acid is used for the treatment of folic acid deficiency in dialysis patients when oral folic acid substitution is not possible and the standard dose is not sufficiently effective. - Dosage instructions and route of administration: Qualified personnel should carry out the application. An individual dosage of half an ampoule to one ampoule can be given intramuscularly or intravenously once to three times a week. If part of the contents of the ampoule is used, the remainder should be discarded. - Shelf life and storage: The medicinal product should not be used after the expiry date. Improper storage, especially exposure to heat and light, may cause turbidity. The medicinal product should be protected from light and kept out of the reach of children. - Contraindications: It should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients and anaemia with enlarged red blood cells. Pregnant and lactating women should consult their doctor before use. - Side effects: Possible adverse effects include allergic reactions, reddening of the skin, itching, bronchial spasm, nausea, circulatory failure, sleep disturbance, agitation, depression and gastrointestinal disturbance. A doctor or pharmacist should be contacted in the event of any disturbances in the state of health. - Composition: contains folic acid (20 mg), sodium chloride and water for injection. - Mode of action: Folic acid is a vital water-soluble vitamin which plays an important role in various metabolic processes and blood formation. - Storage: The medicinal product should be stored in the dark, e.g. in the outer carton. - Manufacturer: Hevert Arzneimittel GmbH & Co.
