Description

The preparation contains a mixture of enzymes called pancreatin.This pancreatin is obtained from pig pancreas and supports digestion.The enteric-coated pellets in the preparation slowly release the pancreatin in the intestine.No prescription is required for this product.

The medicine is used for digestive disorders caused by inadequate or missing pancreatic function.This can be the case with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency or to support inadequate pancreatic function in cystic fibrosis.

Effect

The enzymes in the preparation digest food as it travels through the gastrointestinal tract.For optimal effect, the medicine should be taken during or immediately after a meal or snack.This allows the enzymes to mix thoroughly with the food.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 300 mg of pork pancreas powder.The enzyme activities are as follows: 25000 PhEur-E triacylglycerol lipase, 18000 PhEur-E amylase and 1000 PhEur-E proteases.In addition, it contains various excipients such as cetyl alcohol, Dimeticon 1000, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, iron (III) oxide, gelatin, hypromellose phthalate, macrogol 4000, sodium dodecyl sulfate, titanium (IV) oxide and triethyl citrate.

Contraindications

Dosage

The dosage is measured in lipase units and depends on the disease, weight, diet and fat content in the stool.The usual dose for a main meal is between 20,000 and 80,000 lipase units.The exact dosage should always be agreed with your doctor.The medicine should be taken for as long as the doctor prescribes, as in many cases it is necessary to permanently compensate for the deficiency of your own pancreatic enzymes.

Intake

The capsules should always be taken during or immediately after a meal or snack.They should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid without breaking or chewing them.If swallowing is difficult, the capsules can be opened and the pellets added to a small amount of soft, acidic food.The mixture should be swallowed immediately, without crushing or chewing, and washed down with water or juice.

Patient information

Particular caution is required for intestinal strictures, which are known in patients with cystic fibrosis.No effects on the ability to drive or use machines are expected.

Pregnancy
