Description of the preparation

This preparation contains a mixture of enzymes called pancreas powder.The pancreas powder is obtained from pig pancreas and supports digestion.The capsules contain small, enteric-coated pellets that slowly release the pancreas powder into the intestines.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The medicine is used for digestive disorders (maldigestion) caused by inadequate or missing pancreatic function (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency).It is also used in cystic fibrosis to support the inadequate function of the pancreas.

Mode of action

The enzymes in this supplement help digest food as it travels through the gastrointestinal tract.It is recommended to take the capsules during or immediately after a meal or snack so that the enzymes can mix well with the food.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each capsule contains 300 mg of porcine pancreas powder.The enzyme activities are as follows: 25,000 PhEur-E triacylglycerol lipase, 18,000 PhEur-E amylase and 1,000 PhEur-E proteases.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: cetyl alcohol, Dimeticon 1000, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, iron (III) oxide, gelatin, hypromellose phthalate, macrogol 4000, sodium dodecyl sulfate, triethyl citrate and 23 mg total sodium ion.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if there is proven hypersensitivity to pork or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.

Dosage

The dosage is measured in lipase units and depends on the severity of the disease, weight, diet and fat content in the stool.The exact dosage should always be agreed with your doctor.For patients with cystic fibrosis, there are specific dosage instructions that vary depending on age and weight.For other pancreatic problems, the usual dose for a meal is between 25,000 and 80,000 lipase units, equivalent to 1 to 3 capsules.

Intake

The capsules should always be taken during or immediately after a meal or snack.They should be swallowed whole with a little water or juice.Do not crush or chew the capsules or their contents as this may cause mouth irritation or change how they work.If swallowing is difficult, the pellets can be mixed in a small amount of a soft, acidic food or acidic liquid.
