Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray

Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray is a nasal spray that is used for hay fever symptoms.It stabilizes the cells that release the allergy-causing substance histamine, thereby weakening the allergic reaction.

What is an allergy?

An allergy is an overreaction of the immune system to normally harmless substances such as plant pollen, animal hair or house dust.The immune system incorrectly classifies these substances as dangerous and triggers a defensive reaction.Symptoms can range from watery eyes, runny nose and itchy rash to gastrointestinal complaints and shortness of breath.

How does cromoglicic acid work?

When an allergy is manifested, i.e. after at least two contacts with the allergen, there are antibodies in the blood and tissue.These meet mast cells, which contain the allergy messenger histamine.When histamine is released, blood vessels dilate and inflammation occurs, causing symptoms such as itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.Cromo-ratiopharm® stabilizes the mast cells and thus prevents the development of hay fever symptoms.

Areas of application

Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray is used as a preventive measure for allergic rhinitis.However, it cannot treat acute attacks.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

1 ml of the nasal spray solution contains 20 mg sodium cromoglicate.A spray of 0.14 ml therefore contains 2.8 mg of sodium cromoglicate.Other ingredients include sodium edetate, sodium hydroxide and water for injections.

Contraindications

If you are hypersensitive to any of the active ingredients or other components of the drug, Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray should not be used.Careful risk-benefit assessment should take place during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage

Adults and children can use 1 spray in each nostril up to 4 times daily.If necessary, the dose can be increased, but the frequency of application should not exceed 1 spray into each nostril 6 times a day.After the symptoms have subsided, the nasal spray should continue to be used as long as you are exposed to the allergens.

Application

Before use, the nose should be cleaned by blowing your nose vigorously.The spray mechanism is activated until a fine spray mist is released, the spray opening is inserted into the nostril and inhaled lightly through the nose during the spraying process.To prevent drying out, the enclosed protective cover should be put back on after each use.

Patient information

Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray is only suitable for prevention and long-term therapy.Regular daily use is required as it does not have an immediate effect.The therapeutic effect should be monitored regularly.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medication should only be taken after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.Therapy with Cromo-ratiopharm® nasal spray during pregnancy should only be carried out after careful risk-benefit assessment.The active ingredient is only detected in small amounts in breast milk, so there is probably no risk to the breastfed infant.

Other

The treatment effect should be checked regularly by the doctor.If you wish to use the product for a longer period of time, you should have your doctor determine the need for treatment.Do not use the product for longer than 5 days without medical advice.
