Information for use with the article Magnesiocard 2,5 mmol Film-Coated Tablets: Magnesiocard 2,5 mmol is used for the treatment of magnesium deficiency states requiring therapy. It may also be effective against neuromuscular disorders and calf cramps. The medicinal product contains magnesium aspartate hydrochloride as the active substance. It can be purchased without a prescription but should be used according to the instructions. The leaflet should be read carefully and contains important information. Children under 4 years of age should only take the medicine after consulting a doctor. The dosage varies according to age and is usually two film-coated tablets three times a day for adults and adolescents. The film-coated tablets should be taken unchewed before meals with sufficient liquid. They should be taken for at least 4 weeks. Occasionally, soft stools and diarrhoea may occur. The medicine should be stored at room temperature away from heat. It does not contain gluten or lactose. The maximum quantity supplied per quarter may be limited depending on the product. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may use the medicinal product as there are no known harmful effects on the unborn child or breastfeeding. In case of allergic reactions or other adverse effects, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted. The medicine must not be taken if there is an allergy to magnesium aspartate hydrochloride or other ingredients, severe kidney dysfunction, blocked urine production or fluid deficiency.
