Magnesiocard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets are taken whole with sufficient liquid, preferably before meals. The usual dosage for adults is 2 film-coated tablets 1 to 3 times daily, corresponding to 121.6-364.8 mg magnesium. The exact dosage depends on the extent of the magnesium deficiency and should be determined by the doctor.

Symptoms of magnesium deficiency
A magnesium deficiency can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms, including muscle cramps, tension, restless legs syndrome, eyelid and muscle twitching, sensory disorders, general weakness and fatigue, headaches/migraines, cardiac arrhythmias, high blood pressure, tendency to diabetes mellitus, nervousness, inner restlessness and sleep disorders, depressive moods and feelings of anxiety, increased susceptibility to stress, irritable bowel symptoms and menstrual problems.
Causes of magnesium deficiency
Magnesium balance depends on four factors: intake, requirement, loss and rate of absorption from the intestine.A deficiency occurs when not enough magnesium is supplied, there is an increased need, the body excretes too much magnesium due to illness or stress, or the absorption of the mineral into the body is disturbed.
Foods rich in magnesium are primarily natural foods such as nuts, seeds, whole grain products, brown rice and millet.Cocoa and chocolate also contain a lot of magnesium.A diet high in fat and phosphates, such as fast food, is unfavorable.Vegetables, fruits and salads are healthy but low in magnesium.Valuable magnesium is lost through the industrial processing and preparation of food.
A healthy adult should consume 300 to 350 mg of magnesium daily through food.In certain situations, such as physically or mentally demanding work, strenuous sports, persistent stress, pregnancy or breastfeeding, the need is increased.Children have a higher magnesium requirement in relation to their body weight, especially when they are growing.
In some diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, the body loses more magnesium through the urine.Dehydration tablets, alcohol and sodas can also lead to magnesium losses.Sometimes the body does not absorb enough magnesium, even though enough is consumed. The cause can be diarrhea, chronic intestinal diseases, impaired intestinal function or certain medications.
Areas of application
Magnesiocard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets are used to treat magnesium deficiency states that require therapy and do not require injection/infusion, and in cases of proven magnesium deficiency if it is the cause of muscle activity disorders.
