Directions for use of Silvercel Non Adherent dressings 10x20cm: Silvercel Non Adherent is a silver antimicrobial dressing with a non-adherent coating. It protects the wound bed and allows a painless dressing change. The dressing is made of calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose and silver-coated fibres that enable effective exudate management. It can absorb and retain large amounts of exudate. The silver ions in the dressing protect the wound from bacteria and control odour. The hydroalginate layer provides sustained release of silver ions and remains tear resistant, even when wet. It allows exudate to drain freely and does not adhere to the wound bed. The dressing adheres up to 75% less than other silver dressings. Silvercel Non Adherent is indicated for the treatment of exuding superficial and deep acute and chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, venous and diabetic ulcers, donor sites and traumatic and surgical wounds. Due to the alginate it contains, it can also be used to control bleeding in superficial wounds. The product is also suitable for infected wounds, but only under medical supervision. Dressing changes are made when the secondary dressing has reached its absorption capacity or when good practice in wound care is required.
