Psyllium Bombastus is a herbal swelling agent that is used to regulate stools.It is used for chronic constipation and also when easier bowel emptying with soft stools is desired.This can be the case, for example, after surgical procedures in the rectum area, anal fissures or hemorrhoids.

Psyllium Bombastus contains psyllium as an active ingredient.100 grams of the drug contains 100 grams of psyllium seeds.

Contraindications

Psyllium Bombastus should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Dosage

The recommended daily dose for teenagers over 12 years and adults is 25 to 40 grams of psyllium, divided into three individual doses.Children between 6 and 12 years old should take 12 to 25 grams of psyllium seeds daily, also divided into three individual doses.The psyllium seeds must be taken with sufficient liquid, at least 30 milliliters of water or a comparable watery liquid per gram of psyllium seeds.The psyllium seeds are first mixed with the liquid and then taken with water (one to two glasses) after pre-swelling.It is important to drink enough fluids throughout the day.It should not be taken immediately before going to bed and an interval of 0.5 to 1 hour should be maintained between taking other medicines.The effect occurs after 12 to 24 hours.

Notes

The swelling effect of psyllium seeds can occasionally cause a feeling of fullness, lack of appetite and flatulence.In this case, the amount taken can be reduced or taken completely.

The active ingredient must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to psyllium, hardened stools in the form of fecal stones or fecal impaction, anal bleeding that has not been clarified by a doctor, impending or existing intestinal obstruction or giant intestine (megacolon syndrome), as well as narrowing (stenoses) in the gastrointestinal tract.

If you have discomfort and pain in the abdomen, nausea and vomiting, or after a sudden change in the consistency of the stool that lasts longer than two weeks, psyllium must not be used until the causes have been clarified by a doctor.If you have diverticulosis, you should consult a doctor before taking it.
