Active ingredient and areas of application

The active ingredient in Aurica psyllium seeds is psyllium, also known as Plantago afra L. This herbal medicine is used to treat stool constipation.It also helps to form soft stools when easier bowel emptying is desired, for example in the case of tears in the anal mucosa, hemorrhoids, after rectal-anal surgery, irritable bowel syndrome or during pregnancy.

Dosage and application

Adolescents aged 12 and over and adults should take a teaspoon (approx. 5 g) of psyllium seeds several times a day.The seeds should be allowed to pre-soak in water and then taken with plenty of liquid.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and the course of the disease.If symptoms persist or recur regularly, a doctor should be consulted.

There are no known symptoms of overdose.However, particular attention should be paid to careful dosing in infants, young children and the elderly.A dosage prescribed by the doctor may differ from the information in the package leaflet and should therefore be used according to his instructions.

Contraindications

Psyllium should not be used if you are hypersensitive to the ingredients, if you have constrictions in the digestive tract, if you have intestinal obstruction or threat of intestinal obstruction, or if you have diabetes mellitus that is difficult to control.Children under 12 years of age should generally not use the medicine.
