Area of application

This medicine is an antifungal agent used to treat yeast infections of the oral mucosa, also known as oral thrush.It acts against various types of fungi and helps fight and cure the infection.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main active ingredient of this drug is miconazole with a concentration of 20 mg per gram of gel.Additionally, it contains various excipients such as ethanol 96% (8.8 mg), glycerol, potato starch, polysorbate 20, saccharin sodium, purified water and total sodium ion (23 mg).It also contains various flavorings, including orange flavor, cocoa flavor, benzyl alcohol, limonene, linalool, geraniol, benzyl cinnamate, citral, citronellol.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you or the child being treated are allergic to miconazole, related antifungal medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.It should also not be used in cases of liver dysfunction or in infants under 4 months of age and children in whom the swallowing reflex is not yet fully developed.In addition, it must not be taken at the same time as certain medicines that are broken down by the enzymes cytochrome P450-3A4 or cytochrome P450-2C9, such as certain medicines for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, allergies, psychiatric disorders, malaria, migraines, cholesterol lowering, sleeping pills and sedatives and anticoagulants.

Dosage

The recommended dose for infants and children aged 4 to 24 months is one small measuring spoon (1 ml gel) four times daily.For adults and children aged 2 and over, one large measuring spoon (2 ml gel) is intended four times a day.The dose may vary depending on the size of the oral cavity.Treatment should be continued for at least a week after the symptoms disappear.If the signs of oral thrush do not go away within the first 5 days after starting treatment, you should see a doctor.

Intake

The gel is intended for use in the oral cavity and should be applied four times throughout the day after meals.Apply the oral gel to the oral mucosa with a clean finger and distribute it evenly.For infants and young children, the gel should be applied in small portions to the front of the mouth to prevent it from entering the respiratory tract.The gel should be kept in the mouth for as long as possible and then swallowed.During daily dental care, the braces should also be brushed with oral gel.Dentures should be removed at night and also brushed with the gel.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the product.Contact with eyes should be avoided.Particular caution is required if the disease occurs for the first time, if there are frequent fungal infections within the last 12 months or if you are taking other medicines at the same time.In the case of infants and small children, care should be taken to ensure that the gel does not block the throat.The preparation has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The product should not be used in the first three months of pregnancy.From the 4th month of pregnancy, the oral gel should only be used on the express instructions of the doctor.During breastfeeding, the preparation should only be used if specifically instructed by a doctor, as it is not known whether the active ingredient miconazole or its breakdown products pass into breast milk.
