Aknichthol cream is used to reduce the number of comedones in mild and moderate forms of acne vulgaris. The cream contains the active ingredient sodium bituminosulfonate (ichthyol sodium). It should be applied thinly to the affected skin areas and used two to three times a day. The duration of treatment should usually be a maximum of 6 weeks. Skin irritation such as itching, burning and redness may occur. The medicinal product must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or other sulphonated shale oils, and during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Before application, the skin should be cleansed and then carefully dried. No quantities should be overdosed. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there are any questions about the application.
