Area of application

The preparation is a polyene antibiotic that is effective against yeast fungi and is used for the topical treatment of fungal infections.It is effective against nystatin-sensitive fungi and is used for infections of the mouth and throat, esophagus and gastrointestinal tract, especially Candida infections.

Ingredients

The suspension contains 100,000 international units (IE) of nystatin per milliliter as the active ingredient.Excipients include glycerol 85%, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, purified water, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, raspberry flavor, propylene glycol, cinnamaldehyde, geraniol, citronellol and linalool.The total amount of carbohydrates is 0.047 bread units (BE) per milliliter.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.No prescription is required for this product.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.If you are unsure, please ask.

The recommended dose is:

Infants: If the mouth, throat and esophagus are affected, 0.5 to 1 milliliter of the suspension (50,000 to 100,000 IE nystatin) should be dripped into the infant's mouth 3 to 6 times a day.If the gastrointestinal tract is affected, 1 to 2 milliliters of the suspension (100,000 to 200,000 IE nystatin) should be dripped into the mouth 3 to 6 times a day.

Children and adults: If the mouth, throat and esophagus are affected, 1 milliliter of the suspension (100,000 IE nystatin) should be dripped into the mouth 3 to 6 times a day.

The treatment should be carried out regularly for at least 2 weeks to achieve lasting success.In stubborn cases, therapy can be extended.If you have side effects or if the effect is too strong or too weak, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have taken more than you should, stop taking the product and contact your doctor or pharmacist.If you forget to take a dose, do not take a double dose, but continue using it as prescribed.

Intake

The suspension is intended for oral use.Before each use you should shake the suspension vigorously.The suspension should be moved around in the mouth for as long as possible before swallowing.When treating the esophagus, the suspension should be taken while lying down.It is taken after meals.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine, especially if you want to treat underweight or immature premature babies.No special measures are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

At therapeutic doses, nystatin is hardly absorbed and does not cross the placental barrier.It is also not expected to pass into breast milk.The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

Nystatin oral preparations are not suitable for treating fungal infections of the entire body.If healing is not successful, the treatment must be checked by a doctor.When treating fungal infections, all fungal foci on the skin and mucous membranes must be treated to avoid relapses.
