Area of application

Pantoprazole HEUMANN 20 mg for heartburn gastro-resistant tablets is used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.Reflux describes the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, which can lead to inflammation and painful symptoms.These include a burning sensation in the chest that travels up to the throat and a sour taste in the mouth.

The effects can occur after just one day, but it is often necessary to take the tablets over 2 to 3 days to achieve noticeable relief.If symptoms do not improve after two weeks or even worsen, a doctor should be consulted.

One tablet of Pantoprazole HEUMANN 20 mg for heartburn contains the active ingredient pantoprazole in an amount of 20 mg (as sodium 1.5 H2O).The other ingredients include mannitol, crospovidone (type B), sodium carbonate, hyprolose, calcium stearate (vegetable), hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), propylene glycol, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) dispersion 30% (contains polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate),triethyl citrate and talc.

Contraindications

The product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet daily.It is important not to exceed the recommended daily dose of 20 mg of pantoprazole.The tablet should be taken at the same time every day before a meal.It must be swallowed whole with a little water and must not be bitten or broken.

It should be taken over at least 2 to 3 consecutive days.Once the symptoms have completely subsided, you can stop taking it.If there is no improvement after two weeks, you should see a doctor.It should not be taken for longer than 4 weeks without consulting a doctor.

Patient information

No prescription is required for this product.Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you have had treatment for heartburn or indigestion for 4 weeks or longer, are over 55 years of age and are treating indigestion with non-prescription medicines every day, are over 55 years of age and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms, have had a stomach ulcer or gastric operation in the past, have liver problems or jaundice, see your doctor regularly for severe symptoms or serious medical conditionshave planned an endoscopy or a breath test (13C-urea breath test), have a certain blood test (chromogranin A) planned, or have ever experienced skin reactions as a result of treatment with a medicine similar to the product.

Ask your doctor for specific advice if you are taking pantoprazole and HIV-protease inhibitors such as atazanavir or nelfinavir at the same time.Do not take this medicine for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor.Talk to your doctor if reflux symptoms have not gone away after 2 weeks.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms before or after taking this medicine, which could be a sign of another, more serious condition: unintentional weight loss, vomiting, especially with repeated vomiting, vomiting of blood, blood in the stools, difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, paleness and feeling weak (anaemia), chest pain, stomach pain, severe and/or persistent diarrhea, rash, especially on areas of the skin exposed to the sun, or severe skin reactions.

Children and adolescents should not take the medicine as there is insufficient safety information for this age group.

If you experience side effects such as dizziness or blurred vision, you should not drive or operate machines.

Pregnancy

You should not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
