Pantoprazole - 1 A Pharma® 20 mg is a medication for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults.The active ingredient, pantoprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces excessive stomach acid production.This happens by blocking a pump that is responsible for producing stomach acid.This relieves the symptoms of heartburn and acid reflux.

Area of application

Reflux refers to the backflow of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus.This can cause a painful burning sensation in the chest area (heartburn) that goes up to the throat and a sour taste in the mouth.These symptoms often occur about an hour after eating or at bedtime.Heartburn is often caused by excessive acid production in the stomach, which can be triggered by fatty or spicy foods, but also by stress.

Effect

Stress can have a negative impact on digestion and lead to heartburn or acid reflux.Due to the connection between the head and stomach, it is not surprising that stress also affects digestion.Not only abdominal pain can be the result, but also heartburn or acid belching.

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet daily.Do not exceed this recommended daily dose of 20 mg pantoprazole.Take this medicine for at least 2-3 consecutive days.Stop taking it when you are completely free of symptoms.If you do not notice any improvement in symptoms after 2 weeks of continuous use, contact your doctor.Do not take the product for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor.Take the tablet at the same time every day before a meal.Swallow the tablet whole with a little water.Do not bite or break the tablet.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor before taking the medicine if you have had treatment for heartburn or indigestion for 4 weeks or longer, if you are older than 55 years and treat indigestion daily with non-prescription medicines, if you are older than 55 years and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms, if you have had a stomach ulcer or gastric operation in the past, if you have liver problems or jaundice, if you have severe or serious symptomssee your doctor regularly, or if you are scheduled to have an endoscopy or a breathing test called a 13C-urea breath test.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms, which could be a sign of another, more serious condition: unintentional weight loss, vomiting, especially with repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, blood in the stool, difficulty swallowing or pain when swallowing, paleness and feeling weak (anemia), chest pain, stomach pain, severe and/or persistent diarrhea.

Before a scheduled blood test, tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine. After just one day of treatment with the medicine, your symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn may be relieved, but this medicine does not have to provide immediate relief.You should not take it as a preventive measure.If you suffer from recurrent heartburn or indigestion over a long period of time, remember to see your doctor regularly.

The medicine should not be taken by children and adolescents under 18 years of age as there is a lack of safety information for this younger age group.

If side effects such as dizziness or blurred vision occur, you should not drive or operate machines.
