Description

Omeprazole STADA protect 20 mg is a medication used to treat heartburn and acid reflux.The active ingredient omeprazole inhibits the formation of stomach acid, which reduces the acid content in the stomach and allows the affected mucous membrane to heal.Heartburn is usually caused by an overproduction of stomach acid that rises into the esophagus.This can be caused by a malfunction of the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach and leads to burning pain behind the breastbone, which often occurs after eating or at night.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Omeprazole STADA protect 20 mg contains the active ingredient omeprazole.One enteric-coated tablet contains 20 mg of omeprazole.The other ingredients are Betadex, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph. Eur.), glycerol mono/diacetate monoalkanoate (C16-C20), hypromellose phthalate, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), corn starch, iron(II,III) oxide (E172) and titanium dioxide (E171).

Contraindications

Do not take Omeprazole if you are allergic to Omeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medication should also not be used if you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole or esomeprazole.Omeprazole is also not suitable if you are taking a medicine that contains nelfinavir, as this is used against HIV-infection.If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking.

Dosage and intake

Adults should take one enteric-coated tablet (equivalent to 20 mg omeprazole) once daily for 14 days.If the symptoms do not disappear after this period, please inform your doctor.It may be necessary to take Omeprazole STADA protect on 2-3 consecutive days to improve the symptoms.Dose adjustment is not necessary in elderly patients or in patients with impaired renal function.However, patients with impaired liver function should speak to their doctor beforehand.

The tablet must not be divided.Take Omeprazole STADA protect whole on an empty stomach together with sufficient liquid (e.g. a glass of water) before a meal (breakfast or dinner).If possible, it should be taken at the same time of day.

Patient information

Do not take omeprazole for more than 14 days without consulting your doctor.If your symptoms do not subside or worsen, please see your doctor.Omeprazole can mask the signs of other diseases.Therefore, talk to your doctor immediately if any of the following apply to you: you lose a lot of weight for no apparent reason and have trouble swallowing, you develop stomach pain or indigestion, you vomit food or blood, you pass black stools (blood in the stool), you have severe or persistent diarrhea, you have had a previous stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal surgery, you are receiving consistent, symptomatic treatment for indigestion for 4 or more weeksHeartburn, you have had constant indigestion or heartburn for 4 or more weeks, you have jaundice or severe liver disease, you are over 55 years old and you have new or recently changed symptoms.

Patients should not take omeprazole for prevention.Tell your doctor about treatment with omeprazole if you are scheduled to have a gastrointestinal examination (breath test), as this may distort test results.Children and adolescents should not be treated with omeprazole.

Omeprazole is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use tools or machines.However, side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision can occur.You should not drive or use machines if you are impaired.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Tell your doctor or pharmacy before taking omeprazole if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.Your doctor will decide whether you can take omeprazole during this time.If you are breast-feeding, your doctor will also decide whether taking omeprazole is right for you.

Omeprazole STADA protect 20 mg enteric-coated tablets are used for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux in adults. Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus, which can become inflamed and cause pain.It may be necessary to take Omeprazole STADA protect for 2-3 consecutive days to improve the symptoms.Note: Contains lactose.
