Information for use with the article Hirudoid Forte Gel 445 mg/ 100 g: Hirudoid Forte Gel is a decongestant and anti-inflammatory medicinal product. It is used for the local treatment of blunt injuries with and without haematoma as well as superficial phlebitis, provided these cannot be treated by external pressure. Before using Hirudoid Forte Gel, allergies to chondroitin polysulphate or other components of the medicinal product, as well as open wounds, should be avoided. The gel is applied 2-3 times a day to the affected skin area. The duration of treatment is usually up to 10 days for injuries and one to two weeks for phlebitis. Possible side effects are rare and may include skin redness. Hirudoid Forte Gel contains propylene glycol and should therefore not come into contact with open wounds or mucous membranes. A maximum pack quantity of 15 per quarter is recommended. Specific maximum quantities may be set for certain medicines. The dosage and instructions for use as well as possible contraindications and side effects should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist in case of doubt. The gel contains chondroitin polysulphate from bovine trachea and other ingredients such as sodium hydroxide, polyacrylic acid, 2-propanol and purified water.
