Heparin ratiopharm® 60,000 ointment
Heparin-ratiopharm® is an ointment that is used to reduce swelling.This medicine is used to support the treatment of acute swelling following blunt injuries such as bruises and bruises.It can also be used for superficial phlebitis if it cannot be treated with compression.However, the primary treatment for superficial phlebitis of the lower limbs is compression treatment.
No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The ointment contains 60,000 IU of heparin sodium as an active ingredient, which is obtained from pig intestinal mucosa.Other ingredients include glycerol (mono/di/tri) alkanoate (C12-C18), glycerol (mono/di)(palmitate/stearate) sodium stearate (95:5), cetyl alcohol, white petroleum jelly, perfume oil, dexpanthenol, potassium sorbate, hydrochloric acid 25% and purified water.
Area of application
Heparin-ratiopharm® is used as a supportive treatment for acute swelling following blunt injuries and for superficial phlebitis, provided this cannot be treated with compression.
Dosage and application
The ointment should be applied evenly to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily.If used under a bandage, the ointment should be applied thickly and then the ointment bandage applied.It should not be used for longer than 10 days unless otherwise prescribed.
Contraindications
The product must not be used if you are hypersensitive to heparin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The preparation must also not be used if there is an acute or a history of allergic fall in the number of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia type II) caused by heparin.
Patient information
Particular caution is required if the ointment is not to be applied to open wounds or weeping eczema.If new symptoms appear that may indicate thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, the presence of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II must be ruled out and the platelet count must be checked immediately.In this case, the product should no longer be used and the doctor should be informed immediately.
There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
Previous experience with use in pregnant and breastfeeding women has shown no evidence of harmful effects.Heparin does not cross the placenta and does not pass into breast milk.
Notes
The ointment contains cetyl alcohol, potassium sorbate and a fragrance with various ingredients.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
