Acyclovir HEUMANN cream
Acyclovir HEUMANN cream is a treatment for cold sores.The active ingredient acyclovir inhibits the multiplication of the herpes simplex virus and thus promotes healing.The cream relieves pain and itching and accelerates the formation of crusts, which supports the natural healing process.No prescription is required for this product.
Mode of action
The active ingredient acyclovir inhibits the multiplication of herpes viruses.The cream is used to relieve pain and itching and to accelerate crust formation in acute episodes of cold sores.It contains cetyl alcohol and propylene glycol as excipients.
Area of application
Acyclovir HEUMANN cream is used to treat recurrent herpes infections in the lip area.These are manifested by blistering, pain and itching.The cream helps relieve these symptoms and speed up the healing process.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The cream contains 50 mg acyclovir per gram. The following excipients are also included: cetyl alcohol, Dimeticon 350, glycerol monostearate, macrogol 1500, thin paraffin, propylene glycol, white petroleum jelly and purified water.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to acyclovir, valacyclovir or any of the other ingredients in the cream.
Dosage and application
The cream should be used at the first signs of herpes, such as burning, itching or redness.Apply the cream thinly to the infected and adjacent skin areas every four hours five times a day.It is best to use a cotton swab to apply the cream to avoid further infection.The duration of treatment is usually five days.If symptoms worsen or do not improve after ten days, you should consult a doctor.
Intake
Apply the cream with a cotton swab, smeared with an amount necessary for the size of the infected skin areas.Be sure to treat not only the visible signs of herpes, but also the surrounding areas.If you apply the cream with your fingers, wash your hands thoroughly before and after to avoid further infection.
Patient information
The cream must not be applied to mucous membranes as this can cause irritation.In particular, contact with the eyes should be avoided.If you have severe immune system disorders, you should speak to a doctor before use.

Notes
For the greatest possible treatment success, the cream should be used at the first signs of herpes disease.If the skin changes are already pronounced, antiviral treatment with acyclovir is no longer useful.Measurable acyclovir concentrations in the blood could not be determined after using the cream.
