Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% solution for use in the oral cavity

Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% is an antiseptic mouthwash that is used for temporary supportive therapy for bacterial gum inflammation.It fights the bacteria that cause inflammation and reduces the adhesion of bacteria by forming a protective film on the teeth, gums and oral mucosa.This prevents excessive plaque formation and prevents gum inflammation.Bacteria are the main component of dental plaque and are often the cause of gum inflammation.Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% is therefore suitable support for such inflammations.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% can be used in various situations to combat bacteria in the oral cavity.These include temporary supportive therapy for bacterial inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa, the temporary reduction in the number of germs in the oral cavity and use when the ability to maintain oral hygiene is limited.

Mode of action

The active ingredient chlorhexidine bis (D-gluconate), chlorhexidine for short, is a well-researched antibacterial agent that has been used in the oral cavity for over 40 years.Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% works in three ways: it kills bacteria, prevents the adhesion of bacteria by forming a protective film and protects the teeth from excessive plaque formation for up to 12 hours.

Application and dosage

Brush your teeth at least five minutes before use with Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1%.Then rinse your mouth with 15 milliliters of the fluid for one minute and then spit it out.Do not swallow the fluid or rinse with water.It should be used twice a day, in the morning and evening after a meal or after brushing your teeth.Further information on use and dosage can be found in the package leaflet.

Side effects

Yes, the use of Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% can cause side effects.A coated tongue can occur very often.Common side effects include temporary discoloration of the teeth, fillings and tongue, dry mouth, a tingling and burning sensation on the tongue at the start of treatment, and temporary numbness of the tongue.If you have any signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as a rash, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face, or difficulty breathing, you should contact a doctor immediately.

Duration of application

You should not use Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% for longer than 10 weeks without medical advice.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is chlorhexidine bis (D-gluconate).The other ingredients are ethanol 96%, glycerol, macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate (Ph.Eur.), anethole, clove oil, levomenthol, cinnamon oil, Ponceau 4R (E 124) and purified water.

Contraindications

Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% must not be used if you are hypersensitive to chlorhexidine bis (D-gluconate) or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.In patients with bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases associated with severe airway hypersensitivity, inhalation of the drug may cause shortness of breath or trigger an asthma attack.The preparation should not be used on tissue with poor blood supply.It should not be used in non-bleeding peelings of the oral mucosa, wounds and ulcers, pregnancy and lactation.

Patient information

Particular caution when using the drug is required in children under 12 years of age.You should only use the product after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.There are no known impairments to the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There is no sufficient experience or research on the safety of using chlorhexidine bis(D-gluconate) during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Therefore, the medicine should only be used with particular caution.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor, dentist or pharmacist for advice.

Notes

Chlorhexamed Fluid 0.1% contains 7.2% alcohol by volume, Ponceau 4R (E 124), macrogol glycerol hydroxystearate, levomenthol and cinnamon oil.Accidental swallowing is harmless.
