Remifemin is a herbal medicine used to improve the psychological and neurovegetative complaints caused by the menopause. These include hot flushes, sweating and sleep disturbances. The tablets contain a dry extract of cimicifuga rhizome. Remifemin should be taken twice a day, unchewed, with some liquid. The recommended dose is one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. The duration of use should not exceed 6 months without medical advice. The medicine is not intended for children, adolescents and men. It contains lactose and should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to the ingredients. Possible interactions with other medicines should be clarified before use. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, skin reactions, swelling of the face, water retention and weight gain. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use the medicine. It is recommended that you read the leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
