Venoplant retard S is a herbal medicine that is used to treat symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency.It contains a dry extract of horse chestnut seeds as an active ingredient.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

Venoplant retard S is used to relieve symptoms of diseases of the leg veins, such as pain and heaviness in the legs, nighttime leg cramps, itching and leg swelling.It is a herbal venous agent that can help with chronic venous insufficiency.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The active ingredient in Venoplant retard S is a dry extract of horse chestnut seeds, which is adjusted to 50 mg triterpene glycosides, calculated as anhydrous aescin.The horse chestnut is a deciduous tree up to 30 meters high with large, fingered leaves and showy pink flower candles.The seeds are surrounded by a yellowish-green, spiny shell.The main ingredients of horse chestnut are triterpene saponins (aescin) and proanthocyanidins.Aescin has vascular sealing and anti-edema effects and improves vein tonification.The ingredients also have anti-inflammatory effects.

In addition to the dry extract from horse chestnut seeds, the prolonged-release tablet contains the following excipients: calcium hydrogen phosphate, crospovidone, highly disperse silicon dioxide, macrogol 4000, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, ammonium methacrylate copolymer (types A and B), polysorbate 80, povidone (K 25),Simeticone-alpha-hydro-omega-octadecyloxypoly(oxyethylene)-5-(2E,4E)-hexa-2,4-dienoic acid water, saccharin sodium, talc, triethyl citrate, vanillin, titanium dioxide, iron (III) oxide and iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O.

Dosage and application

Venoplant retard S should always be taken exactly according to the instructions in the package leaflet.Adults usually take 1 extended-release tablet twice a day, in the morning and in the evening before meals.The tablets should be swallowed whole with some liquid.

Initial treatment success may only occur after a treatment period of 4 weeks.Long-term treatment is possible after consulting a doctor.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Contraindications

Venoplant retard S must not be taken if you are known to be hypersensitive to horse chestnut seeds or any of the other ingredients.Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding as there are no sufficient studies available.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Venoplant retard S can have side effects.Possible side effects include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, headaches, dizziness, skin hypersensitivity reactions such as itching and rash, and serious allergic reactions.The frequency of these side effects is not known.

If side effects persist or the first signs of a hypersensitivity reaction occur, you should stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.

Storage

Venoplant retard S should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C and kept out of the reach of children.The expiry date is printed on the folding box and container.The medicine should no longer be used after the expiry date.

Further information

Particular caution is required in the event of inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, hardening of the subcutaneous tissue, severe pain, skin ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs, and functional impairment of the heart or kidneys.In these cases, a doctor should be consulted.

Taking Venoplant retard S does not replace other preventive measures or treatment measures such as wearing support stockings or dousing with cold water.There are no sufficient studies on the effect on the ability to drive and operate machines.
