Ureotop cream is a dermatological/keratolytic agent used for the treatment of excessive keratinisation, milder forms of ichthyosis, relapse prophylaxis and long-term treatment of ichthyosis, follicular keratinisation disorders and dry, brittle, reddened skin. It contains the active substance urea. Certain instructions should be followed when using Ureotop cream. For example, the cream must not be used if there is an allergy to urea, peanut or soya or to any of the other ingredients of the cream. In the case of treatment in the genital or anal area, the ingredients paraffin and vaseline may lead to a reduction in the tear strength and thus to an impairment of the safety of condoms if latex condoms are used at the same time. There is no reliable experience on the use of Ureotop cream in children, but products containing higher concentrations of urea may cause a brief burning sensation on the skin in children. Ureotop cream is used externally and should be applied to well-cleansed dry skin and massaged in thoroughly. The duration of application depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease. Possible side effects may include allergic reactions to the ingredients as well as skin irritations such as burning, redness, itching or dandruff. Ureotop cream contains propylene glycol, butylated hydroxytoluene and cetylstearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin irritation. It should not be stored above 25 °C and should not be used after the stated expiry date. The cream is available in packs of 50 g and 100 g.
