Instructions for use for Optovit fortissimum 500 caps, 200 pieces
Optovit®: Sufficient supply of vitamin E for more mobility
Optovit® is a medicine of natural origin that is used to ensure the body's long-term supply of vitamin E.It contains high doses of vitamin E from pure plant oils and is well tolerated. For joint problems caused by a vitamin E deficiency, Optovit® can help relieve symptoms and reduce the use of painkillers.Taking Optovit® daily supplies the joint cells with essential vitamin E and thus helps protect the joints. This can contribute to greater mobility and enjoyment of life.
Optovit® offers the following advantages:
It covers the daily vitamin E requirement for joint problems, contains high-dose vitamin E of purely plant origin and is suitable for supporting use for joint problems due to a vitamin E deficiency.
Area of application
Optovit® is a vitamin E preparation used to treat vitamin E deficiency. It is not suitable for the treatment of vitamin E deficiency conditions, which are associated with impaired absorption of vitamin E from the intestine. In such cases, parenteral preparations (syringes) are required. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
Each capsule contains 335.57 mg (R,R,R)-α-tocopherol, which corresponds to 335.57 mg (R,R,R)-α-tocopherol equivalent. In addition, the capsule contains vegetable oil distillate, gelatin, glycerol, sorbitol, refined soybean oil and traces of carbohydrates. The capsule contains 30 mg sorbitol and 7.5 mg fructose as excipients.
Contraindications
This medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to RRR-α-tocopherol (vitamin E) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults take 1 soft capsule daily, equivalent to 335.5 mg RRR-α-tocopherol.The duration of use depends on the course of the underlying disease and should be discussed with your doctor.

No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
During pregnancy you should consume 13 mg of vitamin E daily. RRR-α-Tocopherol crosses the placenta and so far no damage has been observed in the unborn child, even at higher doses.
If you are breastfeeding, you should consume 17 mg of vitamin E daily. RRR-α-Tocopherol passes into breast milk.
Notes
The medicine is not suitable for use in cases of vitamin E deficiency caused by impaired absorption of vitamin E from the intestine.
The richest sources of vitamin E are grain germs and most vegetable oils.Other sources include leafy vegetables, animal organs, and milk and butter.Assessing the supply of vitamin E is difficult because the vitamin E content in foods can vary greatly and losses can occur through storage and cooking processes.
According to the recommendation of the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the daily intake of vitamin E is 12 mg vitamin E (RRR-alpha-tocopherol equivalents).During pregnancy and breastfeeding there is an additional requirement of 2 to 5 mg per day.The need for vitamin E also increases with the amount of highly unsaturated fatty acids consumed.
Vitamin E deficiency alone is rare in humans. The normal value in the blood for adults is around 9.5 mg/l vitamin E. A deficiency can be caused by impaired intestinal absorption, metabolism or increased consumption of the vitamin.A deficiency situation does not occur as a result of a nutritional deficiency, as a balanced mixed diet does not cause a vitamin E deficiency.
Insufficient supply can occur after partial removal of the stomach, chronic small intestinal disease in adulthood (sprue), inflammation of the small and large intestine (enterocolitis), chronic inflammation of the pancreas, hereditary metabolic disease with the formation of thick mucus (cystic fibrosis), bile stasis, short bowel syndrome or after long-term nutrition by bypassing the stomach.
A vitamin E deficiency manifests itself in cell and tissue damage, especially in premature babies. If there is a vitamin E deficiency, the focus is on nerve and muscle failure.
