Balneum Hermal F is a medicinal oil bath that is used to support the treatment of dry, flaky, itchy and sensitive skin.It is suitable, for example, for atopic eczema (neurodermatitis), psoriasis (psoriasis) and fish scale disease (ichthyosis).The oil bath forms a protective oil film on the skin, which serves as a temporary protective layer until the skin's lipid layer is restored.It reduces the release of physiological moisturizing factors from the stratum corneum and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which is increased in eczema.Balneum Hermal F also removes dandruff and moisturizes the skin while bathing.

Mode of action

The medicinal oil baths from Balneum Hermal are finely distributed in the bath water and form a nourishing lipid film on the skin.This film greases the skin evenly and thinly, making it easy to care for even hard-to-reach areas.At the same time, the release of important moisture retention factors from the top layer of skin is reduced, which stabilizes the skin's hydrolipid system and supports the restoration of the skin's natural barrier function.

Ingredients

The ingredients of Balneum Hermal F liquid bath additive include medicinally active ingredients such as peanut oil and thin paraffin.Other ingredients are lauromacrogol 400, isopropyl palmitate, N,N-bis (2-hydroxyethyl) oleamide, fragrance (contains 2-benzylidenheptanal, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, geraniol, 2-benzylidene octanal, 7-hydroxy-3,7-dimethyl octanal,D-limonene, linalool), propylene glycol, butylated hydroxytoluene, palmitoyl ascorbic acid and citric acid monohydrate.

Dosage and application

The frequency of use of Balneum Hermal F depends on the type and extent of the symptoms.In general, the baths are taken every 2-3 days; if necessary, they can also be bathed daily.When bathing, add Balneum Hermal F to the bath water and mix it in well.The bath water temperature should not exceed 36 °C, as the greasy effect diminishes at higher temperatures.A low bath water temperature of around 32 °C is more suitable for treating itching.The duration of the bath should not exceed 15-20 minutes; for infants and small children, only a few minutes are usually enough.

To shower, distribute Balneum Hermal F undiluted over the moistened body and then shower off.After bathing or showering, the skin should only be lightly dabbed with a towel so as not to reduce the therapeutic effect.The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease.

For a full bath (approx. 150 l) use 2-3 measuring cups (30-45 ml), for a children's bath (approx. 25 l) use 1/3 measuring cup (5 ml), and for a partial bath (5 l) use approx. 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) of Balneum Hermal F. The inner part of the screw cap can be used as a measuring cup.

Contraindications

If there is a known hypersensitivity to any of the specified ingredients or active ingredients, the use of this product is not recommended.

Combination with other medicines

Balneum Hermal oil baths can be combined with other skin treatment options, such as corticosteroids.The basis for this should be the doctor’s diagnosis or treatment recommendation.

Cleaning the bathtub

After each bath, the bathtub should be cleaned immediately with a conventional household cleaner and then rinsed with hot water to remove any residue of the bath oil.

Safety instructions

There is an increased risk of slipping due to the oil film on the skin and in the bathtub.You should therefore always ensure that you have a firm grip or stand.No prescription is required for this product.

There are no known restrictions for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Please consult your doctor before using Balneum.

Notes on compatibility

Fragrances are used in the Balneum Hermal oil baths for reasons of cosmetic acceptance.Although these fragrances have not yet been noticed in terms of their allergenic potential, people with a fragrance allergy should not use the oil baths.Overall, practical experience documents that oil baths are well tolerated, especially for sensitive skin, such as neurodermatitis skin.
