Paracetamol STADA® 1000 mg suppositories are a painkilling and fever-reducing medicine that is used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, toothaches, period pains and fever.These suppositories are suitable for patients weighing 43 kg or more, which usually corresponds to children aged 12 and over, adolescents and adults.

Active ingredient and ingredients

The active ingredient in Paracetamol STADA® 1000 mg suppositories is paracetamol.Each suppository contains 1000 mg paracetamol.The preparation also contains phospholipids from soybeans and hard fat as other ingredients.

Area of application

Paracetamol STADA® 1000 mg suppositories are used for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.Fever is a defense reaction of the body and can be caused by flu infections or colds.The normal human body temperature is between 36°C and 37°C.A body temperature of 38 °C or more is referred to as fever.

Mode of action

The active ingredients in the suppositories are released as soon as the suppository melts or comes into contact with liquid.Paracetamol has an analgesic and antipyretic effect and also has minor anti-inflammatory properties.The effect can be developed both locally and throughout the body (systemically).

Dosage

The dosage of Paracetamol STADA® 1000 mg suppositories depends on the patient's body weight and age.The recommended single dose is 10 to 15 mg of paracetamol per kg of body weight, with the maximum daily dose not exceeding 4000 mg.For patients weighing 43 kg or more, the single dose is 1 suppository (1000 mg paracetamol) and the maximum daily dose is 4 suppositories (4000 mg paracetamol).The intervals between applications should be at least six hours.

Type of application

If possible, the suppository is inserted deep into the anus after a bowel movement.To improve lubrication, the suppository can be warmed in your hand or briefly dipped in warm water.It should not be used for longer than three days without medical or dental advice.

Contraindications

Paracetamol STADA® 1000 mg suppositories must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients or if there is severe impairment of liver function.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the drug if you are a chronic alcoholic, suffer from impaired liver function or have a previously damaged kidney.If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after three days, you should see a doctor.To prevent the risk of overdose, it should be ensured that other medicines used at the same time do not contain paracetamol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but stopping breastfeeding is usually not necessary.

Taking together with other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.Paracetamol STADA® must not be taken or administered together with alcohol.

Ability to drive and use machines

Paracetamol STADA® has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.Nevertheless, caution should always be exercised after using a painkiller.

Other

Use in children under 12 years of age or under 43 kg body weight is not recommended as the dose strength is not suitable for this patient group.However, suitable dosage strengths and dosage forms are available for this patient group.
