Directions for use of the article Calcium 500 Hexal: Calcium 500 Hexal is a mineral preparation used to prevent calcium deficiency in cases of increased need, such as during growth, pregnancy or breastfeeding. It also supports the treatment of osteoporosis. The recommended dose is 1 effervescent tablet 1-2 times a day, during or after a meal. The medicine is dissolved in water and drunk. The duration of use is determined individually by the doctor. In case of an overdose, hypercalcaemia with muscle weakness and gastrointestinal complaints may occur. No dosage information is available for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. The preparation must not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, increased calcium excretion in the urine, increased calcium levels, impaired kidney function, tendency to form calcium-containing kidney stones and calcium deposits in the kidney. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicine should only be taken if there is a calcium deficiency. It contains sodium compounds, which means that the low-salt diet should be taken into account. The medicine is available in packs of 20, 40 and 100 effervescent tablets. Note from our pharmacists: A maximum of 15 packs per quarter will be supplied.
