Hemolax 5 mg is a laxative used for the short-term treatment of constipation and conditions requiring easier bowel movements. It contains the active ingredient bisacodyl. Hemolax should only be used for a short time and should not be used for a longer period or in higher doses without consulting a doctor. It is available in the form of enteric-coated tablets that can be taken by adults and children aged 2 years and over. The tablets should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid, either in the evening or fasting in the morning. The effect occurs after about 6-10 hours. In case of chronic constipation, a doctor should be consulted before use. Side effects may include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and allergic reactions. Hemolax must not be taken if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients, if you suffer from certain gastrointestinal disorders or if you are under 2 years old. During pregnancy, Hemolax should only be used after consulting a doctor. Certain maximum amounts have been set for dispensing the medicine to prevent misuse or overdose.
