Rökan® plus 80 mg is used to treat symptoms of age-related circulatory disorders and brain-organic performance disorders.The typical signs of brain-organic performance disorders include memory problems, difficulty concentrating, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches.The product is available without a prescription.

Rökan® plus 80 mg can be used for the following complaints: memory problems, concentration problems, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears and headaches.It is also used to extend pain-free walking distance in cases of peripheral arterial disease and as a supportive therapy for tinnitus.

Mode of action

The dry ginkgo leaf extract contained in Rökan® plus 80 mg has an antioxidant effect and inhibits the effects of free oxygen radicals.It improves blood circulation through its positive influence on the flow properties of the blood and has a cardioprotective effect.Rökan® plus 80 mg promotes memory performance.

One Rökan® plus 80 mg film-coated tablet contains the following active ingredients: 80 mg ginkgo leaf dry extract, extracted with acetone-water (35-67:1), corresponding to 19.6 mg ginkgo flavon glycosides and 0.4 µg ginkgolic acids.

The excipients include: cellulose, microcrystalline, croscarmellose, sodium salt, iron (II) oxide, orange, iron (III) oxide, hypromellose, lactose 1-water, macrogol (PEG) 1500, magnesium distearate, silicon dioxide, highly disperse, dimeticone silicon dioxide[alpha]-hydro-octadecyloxypoly(oxyethylene)-5-sorbic acid water, starch (corn), talcum and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

Rökan® plus 80 mg must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to Ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients of the drug.It should not be used in children and adolescents under the age of 18 due to insufficient examinations.In the case of a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding or simultaneous treatment with anticoagulant medicines, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.Caution is also advised when using it before operations.

Dosage

In the case of organic brain performance disorders, it is recommended to take a film-coated tablet 2-3 times a day (equivalent to 80 mg of ginkgo extract 2-3 times a day).For arterial occlusive disease, dizziness and ringing in the ears, one film-coated tablet twice a day (equivalent to 80 mg of ginkgo extract twice a day) is sufficient.

The film-coated tablets should be taken whole with a little liquid in the morning, lunch and evening.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Intake

The tablets should not be taken while lying down.Please take the tablets whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.It can be taken regardless of meals.

Patient information

Other

Sad moods or frequent dizziness and ringing in the ears generally require clarification by a doctor.Before treatment with ginkgo extract is started, it should be clarified whether the symptoms are not due to an underlying disease that requires specific treatment.Individual response to medication cannot be predicted. If memory problems, difficulty concentrating or headaches persist for longer than 3 months despite using the medication as directed, a doctor should be consulted.If hearing impairment or hearing loss suddenly occurs, you should consult a doctor immediately.If skin reactions occur or if you have persistent headaches or gastrointestinal complaints, you should consult a doctor so that he or she can clarify whether there is a connection with the use of ginkgo extract or whether the symptoms are due to another cause.When taking Ginkgo biloba extract, there is a risk of suffering bleeding complications during operations or spontaneously, especially if there is a previously hidden inherited or acquired coagulation disorder.
