Directions for use for IODOSORB Ointment Composition: - 1 g ointment contains: 0.5 g cadexomer-lod with 1.8 % available iodine content. - Other ingredients: Poloxamer, macrogol 400 and 4000. Dosage form and quantity: - Tube of 20 g ointment (N1). - Tube with 40 g ointment (N2) Indications: - For the treatment of infected weeping wounds, such as leg ulcers. Contraindications: - Do not use in thyroid disorders, hyperthyroidism, dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring and hypersensitivity to iodine. - Prolonged use of lODOSORB Ointment should be followed by thyroid function tests. - Do not use simultaneously with taurolidine. - Do not use during pregnancy, lactation or in newborns. Interactions: - Certain diagnostic test procedures may give false positive results. - Iodine uptake by the thyroid gland may be reduced. - Do not use at the same time or for a short time after mercury derivatives. - Do not use near the eyes. Dosage instructions and duration of use: - Apply lODOSORB ointment in a layer of about 3 mm on the cleaned wound surface. - Change the dressing regularly, depending on the condition of the ulcer. - Duration of treatment: 3 to 12 weeks. Side effects: - Occasional burning pain, sensation of warmth, erythema and mild irritation. - Possible cytotoxic effect with long-term use. - Possible undesirable consequences if iodine passes into the body. Application errors and overdose: - Do not overdose or ingest. - In case of poisoning by oral ingestion induce vomiting and seek medical attention. General information: - Observe expiry date. - Shelf life 30 days after opening.
