Hepagallin N are coated tablets used to treat digestive disorders, especially disorders of the biliary system. The tablets contain a dry extract of artichoke leaves as the active substance. The recommended dosage for adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults is 2 tablets, 3 times a day after meals. The tablets should be taken with sufficient liquid. The duration of use is usually not limited, but should not exceed one week. Side effects are rare and may include diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, nausea and skin rashes. The medicinal product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to artichokes or other compositae or if there is obstruction of the biliary tract. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under 12 years of age should not use the medicine. When stored, it should be protected from heat and kept out of reach of children.
