Description

Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is an essential water-soluble vitamin.It plays an important role in the structure of nerve cells, in protein and nucleic metabolism, and in the absorption of folic acid into red blood cells.Vitamin B12 is found in dairy products, whole grain products, fish, meat and eggs.Certain illnesses, such as chronic intestinal inflammation or long-term use of medications that inhibit stomach acid, can lead to a deficiency of vitamin B12.

Area of application

The injection solution is used in the event of a vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be compensated for through diet.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The injection solution contains hydroxocobalamin acetate as the active ingredient.Other ingredients include sodium chloride and water for injections.One ampoule containing one milliliter of solution contains 1500 micrograms of hydroxocobalamin acetate.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the solution for injection should not be used.

Dosage

At the start of treatment, one ampoule (1 milliliter) is administered twice a week for the first few weeks after diagnosis.If there is evidence of a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine, a monthly dose of 100 micrograms of cyanocobalamin is given.Injection therapy should always be carried out by a doctor or alternative practitioner.

Storage instructions

The injection solution should not be stored above 25 degrees Celsius.The ampoules should be stored in the outer carton to protect the contents from light.
