Artelac® EDO® is a proven remedy for relieving symptoms of slightly dry eyes, which are often accompanied by a foreign body sensation.The active ingredient hypromellose helps prevent the surface of the eye from drying out and provides pleasant relief of symptoms.These eye drops are also suitable for contact lens wearers.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main component of Artelac® EDO® is hypromellose.1 ml of the solution contains 3.20 mg of hypromellose.In addition, the solution contains sodium monohydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sorbitol and water for injections.

Areas of application

Artelac® EDO® is used for the symptomatic treatment of drying out of the cornea and conjunctiva.These can arise from tear secretion and tear dysfunction as a result of local or systemic diseases as well as insufficient or incomplete eyelid closure.The symptoms can be expressed, for example, in burning eyes, foreign body sensation and photophobia when exposed to wind, heat and fatigue.The eye drops are also suitable for wetting and re-wetting soft and hard contact lenses.They are particularly suitable for users who cannot tolerate preserved artificial tear substitutes.

Dosage and application

Artelac® EDO® should be instilled 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times daily or more frequently.The contents of a one-dose ophtiol are sufficient for simultaneous use in both eyes.The eye drops are to be applied directly to the eye.After instillation, there may be a brief blurred vision due to the formation of streaks.During this time you should not operate machines, work without a secure footing and do not participate in traffic.

Patient information

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.Before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, a medical benefit-risk assessment should be carried out.Artelac® EDO® contains phosphates, which in very rare cases can cause clouding if the cornea is severely damaged.

Storage and preservation

Artelac® EDO® should not be stored above 25 °C.One-dose ophtiols that have already been opened should not be stored as the product does not contain any preservative.Medicines should be kept out of the reach of children.
