Small children suffer from colds particularly often because their immune systems are not yet fully developed.This increases the risk of becoming infected with cold viruses, especially in environments such as crèches and kindergartens.To help little patients, a decongestant nasal spray is recommended.The hysan® children's cold spray was specially developed for children between 2 and 6 years and contains xylometazoline in an age-appropriate concentration.Just a few minutes after use, the thick mucus can flow away and your nose can breathe freely again.The long-lasting effect allows for a restful sleep at night.

Decongestant nasal sprays with the active ingredient xylometazoline have been proven to reliably clear the nose of viscous secretions.The active ingredient works specifically on the nasal mucosa and ensures that its blood vessels contract.This allows stuck-on mucus to flow away and your nose to breathe freely again.The hysan® cold spray for children is free of preservatives and is therefore particularly well tolerated.

Areas of application

The hysan® children's cold spray is used to reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa in cases of a cold, episodic runny nose (rhinitis vasomotorica) and allergic rhinitis (rhinitis allergica).It also facilitates the drainage of secretions in cases of inflammation of the paranasal sinuses and in cases of otitis media (catarrh of the tubal middle ear) in connection with a runny nose.

Mode of action

The active ingredient xylometazoline in the hysan® children's cold spray works specifically on the nasal mucosa and causes the blood vessels to contract.This allows the stuck mucus to flow away and the nose becomes clear again.The spray is free of preservatives and is particularly well tolerated.

The hysan® children's cold spray contains the following active ingredients and excipients: 0.5 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride, 0.44 mg xylometazoline, disodium hydrogen phosphate 12-water, glycerol, sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate 2-water and purified water.

Contraindications

The product should not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, in certain forms of chronic cold (rhinitis sicca), after surgical removal of the pineal gland through the nose (transsphenoidal hypophysectomy) or other surgical procedures that expose the meninges.The spray must also not be used on infants and small children under 2 years of age.

Dosage

The hysan® children's cold spray is intended for use in the nose and is suitable for children aged 2 to 6 years.It should not be used for longer than 7 days.Before use, remove the protective cap and operate the pump until the solution comes out.Insert the spray opening into the nostril and pump once, inhaling gently.Repeat the process on the other nostril.After use, wipe the nose adapter and replace the protective cap.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when using the medicine if you are being treated with certain mood-enhancing medicines (monoamine oxidase inhibitors [MAO-Hemmer]) and other potentially high blood pressure-increasing medicines.The preparation should also be used with caution in cases of increased intraocular pressure, severe cardiovascular diseases, tumor of the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), metabolic disorders such as overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or diabetes (diabetes mellitus), enlarged prostate or the metabolic disease porphyria.

The long-term use of mucosal decongestant cold medicines can lead to chronic swelling and ultimately loss of the nasal mucosa.The preparation must not be used in infants and small children under 2 years of age.

Pregnancy

Since the safety of using the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been sufficiently proven, you may only use the product on the advice of your doctor and only after he or she has carefully weighed up the benefits and risks.The recommended dosage must not be exceeded during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as an overdose can affect the blood supply to the unborn child or reduce milk production.
