Mediolax® Medice - The reliable help for constipation

Mediolax® Medice is a laxative that is used for short-term use in constipation and in diseases that require easier bowel emptying.It belongs to the group of triarylmethanes.No prescription is required for this product.

Mediolax® Medice should ideally be taken in the evening before going to bed so that easier bowel emptying is possible the next morning.It works reliably, bowel emptying is easy to plan, and it is well tolerated.The product is suitable for children aged 10 and over and adults.

Mediolax® Medice contains the active ingredient bisacodyl.One enteric-coated tablet contains 10 mg bisacodyl.The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, sorbitol (Ph. Eur.), carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A) (Ph. Eur.), magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.), methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1) (Ph. Eur.), polysorbate 80, sodium dodecyl sulfate, talc, macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E 171),Iron (III) hydroxide oxide (E 172), brilliant blue lacquer (E 133), carmellose sodium and sodium hydroxide.

Dosage

Adults and children over 10 years of age take 1 enteric-coated tablet of Mediolax® Medice (equivalent to 10 mg bisacodyl).It should be taken whole, preferably in the evening or morning on an empty stomach with plenty of liquid.Taking it in the evening leads to bowel emptying after approx. 10 hours.Taking it in the morning on an empty stomach leads to bowel emptying after approx. 6 hours.

Mediolax® Medice may only be used for a short time without a doctor's instructions.If you have chronic constipation, you should consult your doctor.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the above ingredients, the product should not be used.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Particular caution is required when taking the drug if constipation is associated with other complaints such as abdominal pain, vomiting and fever, as these may be signs of a serious illness (intestinal obstruction, acute inflammation in the abdominal area).If you have such symptoms, you should not take this medicine or other medications and seek medical advice immediately.

You should not take this medicine if you have illnesses that involve water and electrolyte imbalances.Laxatives should only be taken for a short time if you are constipated.In general, treatment with this medicine is only recommended if you have not yet achieved sufficient success by changing your diet (by increasing fiber intake and adequate fluid intake) and by changing your lifestyle (with sufficient physical exercise).

There are no special precautions to be taken regarding the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.There are no case reports of adverse effects during pregnancy and breastfeeding.Controlled studies have not been conducted.

The medicine should not be used in high doses or for long periods of time during pregnancy.The medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as there is no sufficient information about possible passage into breast milk.

Notes

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
