Instructions for use for LAXOBERAL Laxative drops, 15 ml
What are Laxoberal laxative drops?
Laxoberal laxative drops are a mild and reliable laxative that is used for constipation. The active ingredient sodium picosulfate works specifically in the large intestine, where the constipation occurs. The drops are available in various dosage forms, including laxative beads and laxative tablets.
The drops take effect after about 10 to 12 hours and are well tolerated. They stimulate the colon muscles, promote the forward movement of the stool and prevent the stool from becoming too hard.Even with frequent use, there are no habituation effects.
How the laxative works
The intestinal contents are normally transported by wave-like muscle movements. If you are constipated, this transport takes place very slowly, which can lead to hard stools and pain during bowel movements.
Sodium picosulfate, the active ingredient in Laxoberal laxative drops, passes through the stomach and small intestine without having an effect there.Only in the large intestine is the active ingredient converted into the active, laxative form by the colon bacteria.
This active form stimulates the colon muscles and promotes the further movement of stool. In addition, more fluid is retained in the intestines, which prevents the stool from hardening. This actively supports the intestines and the constipation can resolve.
How are Laxoberal laxative drops used correctly?
The recommended dosage is 10 to 18 drops for adults and 5 to 9 drops for children aged 4 and over. The drops should be taken in the evening as the laxative effect usually occurs after 10 to 12 hours.
It is advisable to start with the lowest dose and gradually increase it as necessary to achieve regular, soft bowel movements.
Areas of application
Laxoberal laxative drops are used for constipation and diseases that require easier bowel movement. These include, for example, painful anal problems or the time after operations.
