Directions for use of Bactigras Antiseptic Paraffin Gauze 5mx5cm: Bactigras is a soft paraffin gauze dressing that acts as an anti-adhesive between the wound and the secondary dressing. It allows atraumatic dressing changes for the patient and prevents fraying when the dressing is cut. Bactigras is effective against a broad spectrum of germs and reduces the risk of germ colonisation of the wound. The dressing measures 5 x 5 cm and contains 0.5% chlorhexidine acetate as an antiseptic. It is permeable to air and exudate to prevent skin maceration and protects the wound surface and edges with an ointment coating. Bactigras allows atraumatic dressing changes, is broad spectrum antiseptic and requires a secondary dressing. It is a latex-free formulation. Bactigras can be used topically on a variety of wounds where there is a risk of infection or in conjunction with systemic antibiotic therapy for infected wounds.
