Directions for use of the article Softasept N Farblos Dosierfl. Softasept N is an alcohol-based skin disinfectant used for disinfecting the skin before surgical procedures, punctures and injections. It contains the active ingredients ethanol (74.1%) and 2-propanol (10%). Before use, some points should be observed. Softasept N should not be used by people who are hypersensitive to ethanol or 2-propanol. It should not be used for antisepsis of mucous membranes or near the eyes. Softasept N is highly flammable and should therefore not be used near open flames or other sources of ignition. Accidental ingestion may cause symptoms of poisoning, so medical advice should be sought immediately. Softasept N is applied undiluted to the skin. The skin area to be treated should be completely wetted and kept moist during the application time. The exposure times vary depending on the type of skin. After the prescribed exposure time, the skin should be dried and excess solution dabbed off. Possible side effects of Softasept N may include skin irritation such as redness and burning. Contact allergies are also possible. If any adverse effects occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted. Softasept N should be kept out of the reach of children. After opening, the product can be used for 12 months. The medicine must not be used beyond the expiry date.
