Contractubex Gel is a scar specific product suitable for use after wound closure. It has an anti-growth, anti-inflammatory, loosening and smoothing effect on the scar tissue. The gel is used in patients with movement-restricting, enlarged, bulging and visually disturbing scars resulting from operations, amputations, burns and accidents. It can also be used for joint stiffness and tendon contractures caused by injuries, as well as for scar shrinkage. The preparation contains Extr. Cepae, heparin sodium and allantoin. It should always be used as directed by the doctor or pharmacist. The gel is lightly rubbed into the scar tissue and for hardened, old scars it can be left on overnight under a bandage. The treatment may take several weeks to months. Physical stimuli such as extreme cold or excessive massaging should be avoided. The gel may cause side effects such as itching, redness of the skin and visible dilation of the skin vessels. It should be stored out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date.
