Contractubex Gel is a scar specific product for use after wound closure. It contains the active ingredients Extr. Cepae, heparin sodium and allantoin. The gel is used in patients who suffer from movement-restricting, enlarged, bulging and visually disturbing scars. These can be scars after operations, amputations, burns and accidents, as well as joint stiffness and tendon contractures caused by injury. The gel has an anti-growth, anti-inflammatory and loosening effect on the scar tissue. It can be applied over a longer period of time, depending on the extent and thickness of the scar. Physical stimuli such as extreme cold or UV-light should be avoided during application. If the gel is used on fresh scars, there can be a marked improvement. In the case of old, hardened scars, success may only become apparent after regular, prolonged treatment. The gel is lightly massaged into the scar tissue or can be left on overnight under a bandage. Side effects may occur, such as local reactions at the site of treatment. Itching, skin redness, scar shrinkage and thinning of the skin may also occur. In case of allergic reactions or other side effects, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted. There are certain contraindications to the use of the gel, so it should not be used if you are allergic to the ingredients of the gel.
