Instructions for use for Charcoal pulvis powder, 4X10 g
Description
The preparation contains medicinal charcoal, which, thanks to its large surface area, is able to bind and remove toxins in the stomach and intestines. This makes them effective for diarrhea and poisoning caused by heavy metals, foods and medicines. No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
The medicine is used for the symptomatic treatment of diarrhea in adults. In infants and children it should only be used as directed by a doctor. It also serves to prevent the absorption of toxins in acute oral poisoning and drug overdoses. It also accelerates the excretion of substances that can pass from the intestine to the liver, such as carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenylbutazone and theophylline.
If you don't feel better or even feel worse after 2 to 3 days of diarrhea, you should see a doctor.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to medicinal charcoal or if you have febrile diarrhea.
Dosage
Always take the medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional. If you are unsure, please ask.
In the event of poisoning, depending on the amount of poison ingested, 50 to 100 grams of the powder should be mixed with around 400 milliliters of water or unsweetened tea and administered orally or through a stomach tube. For children, the administration of 1 gram per kilogram of body weight (maximum 50 grams) is recommended. In severe poisoning and to interrupt the absorption of substances that can pass from the intestine to the liver, repeated administration at intervals of 2 to 4 hours is necessary. In general, laxative measures should be carried out following the administration of charcoal.
As a supportive therapy for diarrhea, adults receive 10 grams of the drug several times a day.The preparation is ready for use as a slurry with water in a ratio of 1 to 10 after stirring.
In infants and children, the medicine should generally only be used as part of medical treatment.
If you have taken a larger amount than you should, in individual cases mechanical ileus (intestinal obstruction) may occur, which can be prevented by administering saline laxatives.
