Acic cream is used for the soothing treatment of pain and itching in frequently recurring herpes infections with blister formation in the lip area (recurrent herpes labialis). The cream contains the active substance aciclovir. It is a virostatic agent that treats viral infections. The cream should be applied thinly to the infected skin areas, five times a day at intervals of four hours. It should not be applied before eating and contact with mucous membranes and the eyes should be avoided. Blisters, swelling and redness should be treated as well as adjacent areas. The duration of treatment is generally five days, but should not exceed 10 days. Side effects may include temporary burning or stinging, drying, itching and flaking of the treated skin, redness and allergic skin reactions. The cream contains cetyl alcohol and propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation. Acic cream must not be used if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol or any of the other ingredients. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use. The medicinal product should be kept out of reach of children and should not be used beyond the expiry date. Emulsifiers such as cetyl/stearyl alcohol and solvents such as propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.
