The isotonic saline solution 0.9% Ecoflac Plus is a versatile product in infusion therapy.It is characterized by its stability, grip and resistance to breakage.The integrated hanger makes handling easier and ventilation is not required.The puncture port is already germ-free, which increases safety.The solution also saves space when transporting, storing and disposing of items.It is DEHP-free, PVC-free and latex free.

Areas of application

The isotonic sodium chloride solution 0.9% is used to replace fluids and salt in cases of fluid deficiency or simultaneous sodium and fluid deficiency.It is also suitable for elevated pH values and simultaneously reduced chloride levels as well as for chloride losses.It is also used for short-term replenishment of the vascular system, as a carrier solution for electrolyte concentrates and compatible medications, as well as for wound treatment and for moistening cloths and bandages.

Active ingredient and composition

The active ingredient in the isotonic saline solution 0.9% is sodium chloride.1000 ml of the infusion solution contains 9.0 g sodium chloride.The other ingredients are water for injections.The electrolytes include sodium ions and chloride ions, each with a concentration of 154 mmol/l.

Application and dosage

The solution is applied intravenously or used for rinsing and moistening.The dosage depends on your individual fluid and electrolyte needs.The maximum dose is 40 ml per kg body weight per day, which corresponds to approximately 6 mmol sodium per kg body weight per day.Typically, the solution is administered at up to 5 ml per kg of body weight per hour, which corresponds to approximately 1.7 drops per kg of body weight per minute.In exceptional cases, the solution can also be administered more quickly as a pressure infusion.

Side effects and precautions

When using the isotonic saline solution 0.9%, increased sodium and chloride levels in the blood can occur.Particular caution is required in the case of low potassium levels, increased sodium levels, increased chloride levels and certain diseases such as heart failure, fluid accumulation in the tissues, pulmonary edema and high blood pressure.If there is a lack of water and a high salt content in the blood, the solution should be infused slowly to avoid a further increase in the salt content.

Storage

The solution should be kept out of the reach of children.No special storage conditions are required.The expiry date on the container and the outer carton should be observed.The solution must not be used if cloudiness, suspended particles or damage to the container or closure is observed.From a microbiological point of view, the preparation should be used immediately after first opening and stored at 2 to 8 °C for no longer than 24 hours.
