Directions for use of the article Fresubin Protein Powder Fresubin Protein Powder is a food supplement used as a balanced diet for special medical purposes. It contains whey protein concentrate. For use in hot meals or drinks, 10-15 g of the powder should be dissolved in 25-50 ml of room temperature liquid. The mixture should then be stirred into 150 ml of warm liquid or 150 g of the food just before serving. Important: The liquid or food must not boil, as the powder is not suitable for cooking. Alternatively, stir 10-15 g of the powder into 150 ml of liquid or 150 g of food. The recommended intake for supplementary nutrition is 2-3 scoops (à 5 g = 20-45 g) 2-3 times daily or as recommended by a doctor. Fresubin Protein Powder should be stored in a dry place at room temperature. After use, the can should be resealed. Opened tins should be used within 2 months. The powder can be stirred into cold and warm liquids or food, such as fruit juice, milk, soup, puree, compote or yoghurt. The nutritional declaration per 100 g contains 1500 kJ = 360 kcal energy, 1 g fat (of which < 0.07 g saturated fatty acids), ≤ 1 g carbohydrates (of which ≤ 1 g sugar and ≤ 1 g lactose), 0 g fibre, 87 g protein and 1.38 g salt (Na x 2.5). The ingredients of the powder are whey protein and emulsifier (soya lecithins). Allergens are whey protein and soya lecithins. Fresubin Protein Powder is not suitable for people for whom enteral nutrition is contraindicated or who are allergic to any ingredient of the powder. The powder is not suitable for exclusive feeding and potassium levels must be monitored in patients on a potassium-reduced diet. It is also not suitable for parenteral nutrition. The powder is recommended as dietary management for patients with existing or impending malnutrition, especially in cases of increased protein requirements in oncology, surgery, sarcopenia and failure to thrive in paediatrics.
