Mepitel One is a transparent, perforated and non-absorbent dressing.The perforated structure allows exudate to drain into an external absorbent dressing.This can reduce the need for frequent dressing changes near the wound and allows external dressing changes with minimal pain and trauma.Mepitel One can also be used as a standalone bandage to protect damaged skin.The dressing features a Safetac wound contact layer, a unique adhesive technology.It minimizes patient pain and trauma to wounds and surrounding skin when removing the dressing.Mepitel One consists of a wound contact layer made of soft silicone (Safetac) on one side and a transparent, flexible, thin and perforated polyurethane film.Mepitel One is a wound contact layer designed for the management of a variety of exuding wounds, including skin tears, skin abrasions, surgical incisions, second degree burns, traumatic injuries, partial and full transplants, irradiated skin, leg and foot ulcers.It can also be used as a protective layer on non-exuding wounds, blisters and sensitive skin areas.

Scope of application

Mepitel One can be used by healthcare professionals or laypeople.Clean the wound according to clinical practice and dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.Choose a size of Mepitel One that covers the wound and surrounding skin by at least 2 cm.If necessary, the bandage can be trimmed.Larger wounds require more overlap.Remove the protective films and place Mepitel One with the adhesive side on the wound.The bandage is applied correctly when you can read the text printed on the bandage.Smooth the dressing over the skin surrounding the wound to create a good seal.If more than one piece of Mepitel One is used, overlap the dressings.Make sure pores are not blocked.Place an external absorbent dressing over Mepitel One and secure it in place.

Minimize overlaps and wrinkling, especially when Mepitel One is applied round or sheathed.This reduces the risk of congestion in the wound area and extremity.Mepitel One can be used under compression products.Mepitel One can be used in combination with gels.When the external absorbent dressing becomes saturated, it should be changed while Mepitel One remains in place.Mepitel One is a disposable dressing.Mepitel One can remain on the wound for up to 14 days depending on the condition of the wound and surrounding skin or according to clinical practice.To avoid maceration, exudate should flow freely through the dressing and the pores should not be blocked.

Precautions

If you observe signs of infection, such as fever, or if the wound or surrounding skin is red, warm, or swollen, contact a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.Always consult a healthcare professional before using Mepitel One in patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa.When applying Mepitel One to second-degree burns with a high risk of rapid granulation or following facial skin resurfacing, avoid applying pressure to the dressing.Lift and reposition the bandage at least every two days.When Mepitel One is used to fix skin grafts and protect blisters, the dressing should not be changed before the fifth day after use.Do not use Mepitel One in patients with a known hypersensitivity to silicone or polyurethane.Do not use again.If reused, product performance may deteriorate and cross-contamination may occur.Sterile.Do not use if the inner packaging is damaged or opened before use.Do not re-sterilize.
