The all-rounder Hepar-SL 320 mg is a herbal medicinal product used for digestive disorders, especially functional disorders of the draining bile system. It contains dry artichoke leaf extract as the active ingredient. The hard capsules promote fat digestion, support liver function and regulate blood lipid levels. Possible side effects include mild diarrhoea, upper abdominal discomfort and skin rashes. The medicinal product contains lactose and is contraindicated for people with hypersensitivity to artichokes or other composite plants and in cases of obstruction of the bile ducts. Pregnant and breast-feeding women and children under 12 years of age should not take it, as no adequate studies are available. The recommended dosage for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is two hard capsules twice daily, taken unchewed with sufficient liquid at main meals. The capsules should be taken unchewed. Persons taking coumarin-type anticoagulants should consult their doctor before taking the product.
