Mepilex Transfer Ag is an antimicrobial, drainable exudate dressing made of soft silicone.It features a Safetac wound contact layer and a compressed polyurethane foam containing silver sulfate and colored by activated carbon.The Safetac technology, developed by Mölnlycke, reduces pain for the patient and protects the intact skin and the wound.The dressing absorbs and transfers exudate, maintains a moist wound environment and has antimicrobial properties.Mepilex Transfer Ag is soft and adaptable, so it sticks well even in difficult or uneven areas.In combination with a suitable secondary dressing, it ensures a moist wound environment.The silver sulfate it contains forms an effective bacterial barrier and inactivates a variety of wound-related pathogens, which has been proven in vitro.This can also reduce odors.Mepilex Transfer Ag is suitable for weakly to heavily exuding leg and foot ulcers, pressure sores, malignant wounds, second degree burns and donor sites with a risk of infection.It can also be used on infected wounds as part of a treatment regimen under the supervision of a healthcare professional and is applicable under compression bandages.

Scope of application

Mepilex Transfer Ag is to be used by or under the supervision of a medical professional.Local hygiene procedures should be followed before and after dressing changes.No prescription is required for this product.

Clean the wound with saline or water according to standard clinical practice.Dry the skin surrounding the wound carefully.Choose the appropriate dressing size so that the product covers the wound bed and overlaps the wound edges.If more than one piece is needed, the edges must overlap.Cut the bandage to the appropriate size, remove the protective films and place the adhesive side on the wound without stretching it.Apply a secondary dressing that is appropriate for the amount of exudate and extends beyond the edges of Mepilex Transfer Ag.Fix the bandage to ensure close contact with the wound.

Each Mepilex Transfer Ag dressing can remain on the wound for up to 14 days depending on the patient, the condition of the wound and the surrounding skin or according to clinical practice.Mepilex Transfer Ag is intended for short-term use of up to 4 weeks.Re-evaluation by a doctor is recommended for continued use.In the event of a clinical infection, Mepilex Transfer Ag does not replace the need for systemic or other adequate infection treatment.The interaction of Mepilex Transfer Ag with detergents, oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions/hydrogen peroxide and topical treatments has not been proven.Remove Mepilex Transfer Ag before starting radiotherapy if product is in the treatment area.After treatment, a new bandage can be applied.When taking electronic measurements, such as electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG), avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels.

Please note that Mepilex Transfer Ag color variations have no impact on the performance or safety of the product.

Precautions

Do not use Mepilex Transfer Ag in patients and/or users with a known hypersensitivity to the materials/components of the product.Physicians/healthcare professionals should be aware that there is very limited data on the prolonged and repeated use of silver-containing dressings, particularly in children and newborns.Frequent or prolonged use of this product may cause temporary or permanent skin discoloration.Do not reuse Mepilex Transfer Ag as product performance may deteriorate and contamination transfer may occur.Mepilex Transfer Ag is sterile.Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened before use.Do not sterilize it again.
