Calcimed D3 1000 mg/880 I.U. chewable tablets are used for the prophylaxis and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in elderly people and as a calcium and vitamin D supplement for the supportive treatment of osteoporosis (bone loss). The chewable tablets contain calcium carbonate and colecalciferol (vitamin D3). The recommended dose for adults and elderly people is 1 chewable tablet daily. Pregnant women should only take 1/2 chewable tablet daily. The tablet should be chewed before swallowing and can be taken independently of meals. An overdose can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and increased urination. If an overdose is suspected, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted immediately. A forgotten tablet should be taken as soon as you remember, but you should not take twice the amount. The medicine should be stored away from moisture. Side effects may include increased calcium levels, constipation, nausea and skin rash. People with allergies to the ingredients or certain underlying diseases should not take the medicine.
