Melgisorb Plus is a highly absorbent calcium-sodium alginate dressing for the management of exuding superficial and deep wounds and wound cavities. The dressing rapidly absorbs exudate and turns to gel. It is highly absorbent and creates a moist wound environment that promotes the healing process. Melgisorb Plus is suitable for a wide range of moderately to heavily exuding, infected and non-infected wounds, such as decubitus ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, donor sites, post-operative wounds, skin abrasions and other traumatic wounds. Melgisorb Plus can be used for shallow and deep wounds as well as wound cavities. Complementary products recommended are Mepilex Border or Mextra Superabsorbent as secondary dressings and Tubifast for fixation. Application includes cleansing/irrigation of the wound, application of the Melgisorb dressing to the moist wound bed, covering with a suitable secondary dressing and compression therapy if necessary. Dressing change is done when the dressing is fully absorbed and removal is done by cleaning/flushing the wound with saline.
