Azela-Vision® MD eye drops without preservatives

The preservative-free eye drops provide quick relief from symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis in adults, adolescents and children ages 4 and up.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

The medicine contains the active ingredient azelastine hydrochloride, which is an antihistamine.These active ingredients prevent the effects of histamines, which the body produces during allergic reactions.Azelastine hydrochloride reduces eye inflammation.

The medicine can be used to treat and prevent eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 4 years and over.It is also suitable for treating eye problems caused by allergies to substances such as house dust mites and animal hair (non-seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) in adults and children aged 12 and over.

The medicine is not suitable for treating eye infections.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each milliliter of the eye drops contains 0.5 mg azelastine hydrochloride and 0.46 mg azelastine.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: disodium edetate, hypromellose, sodium hydroxide solution, sorbitol solution 70% (crystallizing) and water for injection purposes.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be used if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.The medicine may only be instilled into the eyes.

The recommended dose for eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) for adults and children aged 4 and over is one drop in each eye in the morning and evening.If you expect to come into contact with flower pollen, you can use the usual dose as a preventative measure before leaving the house.

For eye problems caused by an allergy (non-seasonal allergic conjunctivitis), the recommended dose for adults and children aged 12 and over is one drop in each eye morning and evening.

If you have severe symptoms, your doctor may also increase the dose to one drop in each eye up to four times a day.Relief from eye discomfort should begin after 15-30 minutes.

If possible, you should use the medicine regularly until your symptoms disappear.If you discontinue use, your symptoms may recur.

Do not use the product for longer than 6 weeks.

Putting too many eye drops in the eye is unlikely to cause problems.If you are concerned about this, contact your doctor.If you accidentally swallow the eye drops, please contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency room as soon as possible.

Take your eye drops as soon as you remember and then continue using them at the usual time.Do not use a double dose if you have forgotten the previous application.

Application of eye drops

So that you can instill the eye drops correctly, you should sit in front of a mirror the first few times so that you can see what you are doing better.Wash your hands and lightly wipe your eyes with a cloth to remove moisture.Unscrew the bottle and check that the dropper is clean.

Gently pull the lower eyelid down and carefully instill the drop into the center of the lower eyelid.Be careful not to let the dropper touch your eye.Release your lower eyelid and press lightly against your nose from the inner corner of your eye.Continue to press your finger against your nose while blinking slowly several times to spread the drop over the eyeball.

Then remove excess eye drops with a tissue and repeat the process for the other eye.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor, pharmacist or optician before using the medicine if you are not sure whether your eye problems are due to an allergy. Especially if only one eye is affected, if your vision is impaired, or if the eye hurts and you have no nose symptoms, there is a possibility that it is more of an inflammation than an allergy.

If symptoms worsen despite treatment or persist for more than 48 hours without noticeable improvement, contact your doctor.If you wear contact lenses, also speak to your doctor, pharmacist or optician.

Treatment and prevention of eye problems caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) is not recommended for children under 4 years of age.Treatment of eye problems caused by allergies (non-seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Your vision may be affected for a short time after using the eye drops.In this case, wait until you can see clearly again before actively driving or operating machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Notes

Contact lenses should be removed before use and not reinserted until at least 15 minutes after instillation.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
